Many of our customers work in the industrial and military markets.
At Innovations in Optics, our breadth of experience enables us to understand
their requirements and efficiently deliver an optimal solution.
Case Study A client approached us to design and construct prototypes for an environmental
monitoring system that determines pathogens for on-line sensors to quantify
bacterial counts during industrial processing. The goal was to improve
the collection efficiency and uniformity as compared with the existing
system that used a commercial camera zoom lens, which suffered from vignetting,
distortion, and field flatness.
The key to success on this project was our in-depth system-level perspective.
We understood the intricacies of lens design and illumination optics,
electronics, mechanics, and critical elements of spectroscopy in developing
an ideal solution. We maximized illumination uniformity over the grating
surface, which significantly improved the overall system performance.
The
test results for the system validated the theoretical predictions,
as the uniformity exceeded the ±5% goal. In addition, testing
of the collection efficiency revealed an order of magnitude improvement.
